Our PTA has generously granted 5th grade $500 to help with the cost of this experience.  Your donations will help cover the remaining cost.  Please send in your money as soon as possible, and if you can help donate extra money, we would greatly appreciate that.  Your student should have a green slip that you need to fill out when turning in the money.  CASH ONLY PLEASE.

APRENDA

Dates have changed for APRENDA testing.  We will begin Tuesday, May 15th and continue on Thursday, May 17th till Monday, May 21st.  Please make sure your child is well-rested and is here every single day.

APRENDA and Local Measures

Your students still have Local Measures assessments and the APRENDA coming up in the following weeks.  The Local Measures math for the district will take place on Tuesday, May 8th and Thursday, May 10th.  The Local Measures writing will take place on Wednesday, May 16th.  The APRENDA, which measures your student’s proficiency in Spanish Language Arts, will take place from May 17th-21st.  Please make sure your student is arriving on time every single day and that they are prepared for these important assessments.

AGE

Reminder that we will start Adolescent Growth Education tomorrow.  This will take place after recess and after we complete the science part of the CST.

CST Testing

CST testing starts on Monday.  It is imperative that your child arrives on time (late comers will have to test on another day) and be well rested each day.

The school has a narrow window to administer the test.

Come to room 505 on Friday if you are part of the homework club for some yummy pancakes!

Adolescent Growth Education (AGE) for 5th grade

Select the above link to view important information about AGE.  5th Grade will teach AGE May 4th – May 11th.  Topics discussed will be: Family, Self-Esteem, Friendship, Decision making, Exploitation and Puberty/Anatomy.   If you wish for your child NOT to participate, please let me know.

CST Testing

CST testing is just around the corner – April 30-May 7 (for 5th graders). It is imperative that your child arrives on time (late comers will have to test on another day) and be well rested each day.

The school has a narrow window to administer the test. Please schedule dentist/doctor appointments after 12 noon during the testing dates.

This Friday, April 13th, you will have a Greek & Latin Roots quiz (cap, san, phil, ord, & brev) & a states & capitals quiz (all 50). Be ready!

5th Annual PTA Read-a-Thon

Let’s get reading! The 5th annual PTA Read-a-Thon will take place from February 27^th through March 9^th(to coincide with Dr. Seuss Day and Read Across America). Read-a-Thon packets with Dr. Seuss bookmarks went home today.

Participating students can ask parents, family and friends to pledge money for books read by the students during the two-week period. Donations can be for a specific amount per book read, or a set amount for the entire two weeks. All donations are tax-deductible and will be used to purchase new library books for Hedenkamp!

Please turn in donations to your child’s teacher by Friday, March 9. The class who raises the most money in the school will receive a pizza party, and the student who raises the most money in the school will win a SONY PS VITA.
